PA Workers Compensation rates reduce nearly 6%

Some injured workers that come in and see me have feelings of guilt because they were injured at work and are being told by their employer that they are costing them money.  They are being told that workers compensation insurance rates are spiraling upwards.

First and foremost, get rid of the guilt.  Remember, you did not ask to go to work the day and become injured.  It isn’t your fault.  In many cases, it may even be the working conditions, unsafe practices, or safety shortcuts employed by your employer that caused your injury.  Not you.

Second, overall, Pennsylvania employers are experiencing a workers compensation insurance rate decrease, not an increase.

Pennsylvania has announced that it will be reducing its rates for workers compensation by 5.99 percent, and that this new level will become effective as of April 1, in a decision that is hoped to provide businesses with a considerable savings.

The rate reduction is estimated to save Pennsylvania employers more than $140 million statewide.  Furthermore, this relief in workers compensation rates is not a new thing for Pennsylvania employers.  They have seen a rate reduction for four consecutive years.
