Preparing For My Meeting With My Workers Comp Attorney

When meeting with your Workers Comp attorney for the first time after you are injured at work, what do you need and what should you expect? First and foremost, at Mooney Law, your consultation for a work injury is always FREE. But, what else?

Meeting with the attorney

Pre-Covid 19, most consultations with a Mooney Law attorney were in person at one of our 15 office locations in Central Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland. Since then, most clients choose to have a free phone consultation. Saves time and travel. No problem. A few clients even opt to have a Zoom video consultation. We can arrange that as well. In essence, Mooney Law will meet with you in-person at an office location closest to you, by phone, or by video. Your choice!

Preparing for the consultation

So what do you need for the initial consultation? Details. Be prepared to discuss how the injury happened, communication you have had with the employer, and any communication you have had, if any, with the workers’ compensation insurance carrier. If you do have insurance contact information, please provide that to us. Let us know your current work status. Are you out of work? Working light duty? Working full duty?
Additionally, be prepared to discuss your medical treatment from the very first visit to the present. Let us know all medical providers. Be prepared to discuss whether you have had any Xrays, MRIs, injection, etc . . .
Be prepared to discuss any pre-existing medical conditions or prior injuries you may have had. No need to hide anything. A pre-existing condition or prior injury is NOT a bar to workers’ compensation benefits. Not disclosing or lying about it though is a quick way to crash your case.

At the consultation

We will go over our workers’ compensation intake form to ensure that we have all the relevant information we need for your case. This is also a great opportunity for you to have questions for us. Let us know your questions and concerns so we can address them.

If you have been injured at work, do not go it alone. Your employer and the insurance carrier have very different interests than you do. They are solely interested in decreasing their liability exposure. Your interests are different. Your interests involve getting proper medical care to get better and getting the wage loss and medical benefits you are entitled to under the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act. That is what we do. We fight for and protect your right to benefits. Mooney Law has obtained tens of millions of dollars for Pennsylvania injured workers. Call today for a FREE consultation at 717-200-HELP or 717-632-4656. You can also email us direct at info@mooney4law.com. Finally, you can also complete the Schedule a Consult form on our website.
